Whats one veggie that you love, most people loathe?
For me its Spinach i never have to add extra flavors like bacon. i take it out of the can, heat it up, and eat it up most people i know, do not care for spinach
Welll, this MIGHT get regional. LOL But being a Texan I LOVE fried okra. Most folks outside of the South have never even heard of it. And when it is described from the evolution of growing, picking, slicing to frying? They often either go "yuuuk" or turn a certain shade of collard green!
A lot of yankees love it though, when they actually try it!
I love brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale and greens that are slightly bitter like broccoli rabi. Okra is cool. I also like artichokes. My boyfriend will only eat broccoli and spinach. But I have learned to go ahead and make meals that make him happy with side additions that please me also. I look at it as more brussels for me! As a child, it took a while for my younger sisters to like brussels sprouts. So when we had brussel sprouts, my parents were making them mostly for me.
I can only eat fresh brussels sprouts though. I detest the frozen ones as they come out too tasteless and mushy. I slice the brussels in half, brown them in bacon fat and garlic, then finish them off with steaming them covered in chicken broth. It's important not to overcook them.
I steam brussel sprouts, drain, brown in butter top with seasoned bread crumbs mixed with parm cheese. Yum. Also love roasting aspargus seasoned with lemon pepper, lemon juice tossed with olive oil and shaved parm on that.
