No..it's not just you...I'm right there with you in your thinking. You said everything I have been thinking. Maybe I am a bit old-fashioned too but I'm not changing my thinking now!!

I agree, totally, to toughen that up, to protect the integrity of the product and it's consumers.
Concerning cloning....even though the FDA approved cloned animals for the food chain, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, because I still don't think, that enough research on it has been done.
What are the long term affects?
What about the labeling?
What about gene defects?
I am maybe a bit old fashioned but, why can't nature be nature...and continue with the "old fashioned method" and way?
Why does everything have to be manipulated, but in the meantime, the consumers are growing aware, demand to concentrate and go back to the "basics" aka "all natural" and organic foods?
People/ consumers certainly are NOT STUPID, by any means, and paying attention.....starting to live by "you ARE what you EAT!"
It's a huge market and growing, emphasizing the all natural and organic way, winning huge popularity......and, as an added benefit, providing me with job security!
Cloning food makes me feel I am in a test laboratory and making me feel uncomfortable......
But, that's just me......
My thoughts exactly! we have NO idea of the long term ramifications of cloning, and ingesting said products.
Remember cyclamates?

Yes, I do!
It's still under debate ("asleep" but active) with the FDA....and still remains banned here in the US (as of right now).....tagging along a so called "grey zone".
They are, however, approved and used in as a compound in artificial sweeteners in Canada and other countries.
I remember the stir it created, causing cancer in rats, mice and such....but, later experiments denied such findings.
Doesn't that make you think, though?
Why can't they leave good ol' sugar as sugar?
And, if you are having health issues, go onto an natural alternative sugar source, or structure your diet AROUND sugar sources/ intake.
Way, way to much manipulated, so called "foods" and additives come out of the laboratories anymore.....I feel like, food is no longer food, and more so "chemically and gene manipulatively created".
I feel like I am in a twilight zone......and I want my good old fashioned food back!!!
Now we are at this "cloning thing"...........
Right now, tests have been positive in nature, and it's been approved as "safe".
But, what happened, later down the road, health defects become known...but the damage has been done.
Sure, they will ban it....but here, it comes to late....AGAIN.
I wish, they would just let it go, forget about it all together, and go back to the "normal", natural way cattle re-produce....instead of playing "god", and do gene manipulation and cloning.
It really freaks me out, gives me chills and goosebumps!
Maybe I am being "weird"...."strange"...not "with the modern times" and maybe I am "misplaced" in the wrong era......??????

Didn't that that turn out to cause reproductive problems? Hmmm maybe we're onto something here... Cloned animals so that breeding is no longer necessary, so cyclamates can be re-introduced to the US market. How many years was it used for before they discovered the reproductive/DNA problems it was causing?? What a mess...

Thumbs up Hello Maine Writer!

Nicely said ! THANK YOU!

I think that it would be foolish not to pay attention to what we eat.

The quality of what we choose to eat. Going ORGANIC is your best bet,

unless you are able to grow your own!

The Government will not disclose what is wrong, until its too late.

There are certain things that you just have to take into your hands, and NOT

rely on the FDA or the government for what goes into your body.
