I just bought myself a coffee from 7-11 and before i finished it, the thing got "cold" so i went to the micro and warmed it up and it 'tasted better'. Same thing for Pizza and other items, i know there are some of you who LOVE cold pizza i just can't ever do it, i need heat for the food to be much 'tastier'.

Why did my coffee "taste better" while warmer, its the same coffee, is the 'better taste' just a figment of my imagination?

Heat releases more aroma.. Which means that you're 'tasting' more of it, since the sense of smell plays very, very heavily into taste. Next time you have a head cold, think about how bland everything tastes.

So, I don't think it's your imagination.. But I think it is, somewhat, your senses playing tricks on you.

That's my belief on it, anyway.

I don't think it does really. Often too much covers taste ;IMO. Cold/luke warm coffee is preferred by many its all about what you like I foods.

I was thinking the same thing recently. A very sweetened cup of coffee to me, tastes good when it's cold, almost better, whereas less sugar (in tea too) tastes better when it's hot.

There are some things I do prefer when they're cold - like roast chicken. And two particular types of pizza - one with pineapples, olives and tomatoes, the other with sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, chicken, broccoli and sweet chili sauce (yes Canadian Pizza Pizza Sweet Chili chicken something)!

Ohh!! OP -- coffee heated up in the microwave, to me, loses all its taste. I think something dreadful happens to coffee in there. Ongoing argument with my husband - he insists I can't tell the difference and it's all in my head but he hasn't set up the blind taste test for me yet and I keep challenging him to do that. I suppose that's another subject though, for another thread
