Even though I live in New England, I use my BBQ all year long. After almost 3 years of constant use, the grates that originally came with my Weber Genesis started to show some rust and the ceramic coating was starting to flake off. I read a very positive review of GrillGrates (GrillGrate | Your must-have grilling grate for any and every grill) on my favorite BBQ website and decided to replace the OEM grates with a set of GG's.

WOW! GG's are absolutely the best BBQ accessory I've ever purchased. As advertised, they even out the hot spots in the grill, reduce flare ups, and conduct heat REALLY well. In fact, I turn the dial halfway down now and before I always cooked on the highest setting. The grill marks GG's make on your food is really impressive too. Plus, you can flip them over and use them like a griddle as well.

GrillGrates have absolutely transformed my grill which I thought was great before into something even better.

These are a definite must for gas grills. I'm sure you could use them with charcoal as well but I think they're intended for gas grills. Check the website I posted to see what the manufacturer says.

Interesting. It says they're good for pizza, but it seems to me that the dough would slip in between the raised grates. I stretch my pizza dough very thin, actually grilled a pizza out on the deck for dinner tonight.

Looks interesting though, and as I also grill year round, I might look into these. Thanks.

I grill pizza all the time although I haven't done it since I bought the GG's. With the OEM grates I never had a problem with the dough sagging through. I think the dough sets up too fast for that to happen because the BBQ is so hot the dough bakes quite fast. I also wonder if I were to grill a pizza on the GG's if it might come out better if I flipped the GG's over and cooked it using the flat side.

Seems like a LOT more work to keep clean. Not sure I would like that.

I've found them quite easy to clean. I found a wire brush in the BBQ section of Lowe's that fits perfectly in between the raised sections. The GG's seem to have better non-stick properties than the OEM grates as well. So, the grease cleans off pretty easily.

I only bought them because my grates needed to be replaced. I'm too cheap to replace perfectly good grates even if these are WAY better than the grates my grill came with.

Eliminating the hot spots is the least of my worries since I installed the GG's. The grill runs WAY hotter now and there's definitely a learning curve because it's like having a totally different grill.
