Must not have eaten at these high-end places you guys speak of. Where I go, I can order the highest end stuff and probably only get to about 40 bucks for me. Not including alcohol, but I'm driving and I don't plan on sitting there sobering up.

Personally, I'd rather just cook at home, any night. If it's on the weekend we could do something relatively special like steak and shrimp and some nice sides or something like that. If it's a weeknight and it's me personally deciding, I could care less. I can make pasta and be happy. The night is special because it's celebrated by the 2 people, the food helps create the mood, but you can also do the same thing with candle light and a nice bottle of wine. Wouldn't matter if i was eating Papa Johns pizza at that point.

my god, I must be one cheap bastard...

im thinking 100.00 is plenty for a special occasion

id cook at home her favorites

lamb chops and a lobster roll

with a side of asparagus and a fruit smoothie cupcake

and with the money left over, we could go see a movie, or a sunset boating cruise , or buy her favorite flowers/plants

How about inbetween; $100, no,but $2000 I would like to know where you eat? I choose staying home because I can do a great dinner for $100 or less, but not a great dinner out. Maybe Bonefish, we could get by for $100 if we limit the booze to a glass of wine each and forget dessert.

I don't eat alone, and I don't mind working hard and playing hard. So, taking my woman out with some friends or having a big feast at home will not be cheap. I live in one of the largest cities in the US, spending 2k for a meal isn't unheard of in these parts. Where you're from, it would probably be harder?

As already posted 100$ does not go far. Here it is dinner at a chain restaurant and a glas of house wine.
I can have a nice appetizer and cocktails, Black Angus filet, shrimp some side and salad, SO's favorite merlot, a small desert and brandy on the porch. Using staples and house bar for brandy. No driving, no high heels!

I just put the question to SO. Here is his answer - go to the grocery store and start with a good bottle of wine, spend the rest on a good steak and a baked potatoe.

Whew boy, with $2,000, we could take a weekend trip somewhere awesome and eat several meals out, especially with proper planning, coupons and Groupons.

I guess you don't know meuch about me? f do live in NWA, but was born and raised in Los Angeles, have lived in Washington DC and have traveled both throughout the USA and many other countries. I can't imagine anyone spending 2 grand for dinner unless you are entertaining a heck of a lot of people. But glad to hear you do enjoy spending money on your friends.

and no drinking and driving, so we can enjoy more than just a single drink. I would rather cook that special meal anytime, while others would stretch that $100 and enjoy a nice meal out.
