Does anyone remember pixie sticks and wax lips? My favorite was charleston chews, bit o' honey and wacky taffy.

I used to get the $.25 banana splits from either Woolworth's or WT Grant's lunch counter. They were the best, but just try to get a good banana split, for any price, anywhere now...fake chocotate, fake whipped cream, etc...

Botan ame, which is a Japanese rice candy with an edible inner wrapper made of rice. I can still purchase it at Walmart! For those of you not familiar with this candy, here's a picture, courtesy of Wikipedia:

My all time favourite candy used to be M&Ms!!!!!!!

Unfortunetly in the year 2000 Mars changed thier candy recipes to using SKIM MILK (Instead of reg milk like they always had) and they DO NOT TASTE AS GOOD!!!!! (Tastes like crapola (to me anyway))

I also used to like Milky Ways and 3 musketeers but when they wre changed in 2000,i stopped liking them

quality is certainly not the same: most of us grew up on real chocolate, today, most of what we get is fake chocolate unless be buy the top brands. As a kid I loved a candy bar, no one seems to remember, it was called a UNO bar. Of course I have always been a nut fan so I loved them then and still do. I also loved coming home from school and having a piece of bread with lots of butter and sugar. Today, I wouldn't think of having anything like that. Mom and dad, rarely had snacks around except fresh fruit. Mom didn't bake and chips etc were not something most people kept in thier homes like today. They were saved for company. Oh, I also loved cheese, anyway and any kind, I still do....

Penny candy (that really cost just a penny) were the dots on a paper, root beer barrels (they still taste pretty good) and squirrels...a molasses flavored candy in a paper that you could never really get all off the candy, and wax lips and the politically incorrect: pink tipped sugar cigarettes LOL
It sounds like we are in the same age catagory.
