Baked beans. Hate them. Weird, thick, pasty sort of texture.

I'm so glad that someone started this thread. I live with someone who just doesn't get the whole texture thing. To him, it's all about taste and he thinks that my texture "issues" are very unusual. I've been reading these to him to ensure him that I'm totally normal!!!

I'm also one who says runny eggs, tapioca and mushrooms have textures that make me queasy.

Okra. It's like snot. Gag-worthy.

Uncooked egg whites. Again, like snot.

I've never eaten oysters (I don't do seafood), but I've seen them....look like snot.

So basically anything that has the texture of snot is a no no on my list.

Growing up, both my parents and both sets of grandparents frequently gave us kids the "when I was your age, we ate ANYTHING and LIKED IT!!" speeches, and I think after growing up it caused me to become a spoiled, picky, adult in my food choices, lol.

Though I understand where they're coming from as well - the Grandparents having lived through the Depression as families riding the poverty line, it likely wasn't often that they could be picky about food choices and it carried over to raising their own children as well. Growing up myself, my parents weren't exactly poor, but they weren't well off either, so I got to experience a bit of it too.

Now, as an adult, I can afford to be a little picky, but I still find myself choking through some stuff to save a buck from time to time. In fact, I'm eating oatmeal right now for breakfast, though I use the steel cut variety instead of the typical store boxed rolled oats. The texture is quite different, but it definitely has more flavor, and isn't that slimy mess that rolled oats end up being I mix in just a little bit of sugar, and a bit of low fat milk, and have a tasty, healthy, breakfast that's insanely cheap

I never thought of it before. I guess sliminess. It's one of the reasons I don't like okra unless I make it as it gets overcooked easily releasing that slime.

I also don't like dark poultry meat on the bone for the same reason, it's slippery/slimy.
