We have bought fresh eggs several times and they smell bad. The organic eggs do not. Over the last few months different cuts of pork and beef have a bad smell also. But again they are fresh. I'm thinking hormones or steroids but that's a guess. Have you had this happen to you? Thanks

No. Did you speak with the store manager? Did anyone else complain? Amazing that all of this happened to you. Was it the same store?

Never. I buy organic eggs most of the time, but if I can't get organic, I will buy cage free/vegetarian fed. All the eggs I've purchased have smelled fresh, both in and out of the shell.

The local store doesn't have organic beef, so I buy whatever they have in the cooler, and it has never smelled off to me. I don't buy pork, so I can't comment on that.

Eggs will absorb smells. Probably with the eggs, part of a shipment was broken and spoiled and that stink got into your eggs. They could also have taken on smells from disinfectants being used right now at commercial egg farms to combat their flocks from getting the avian flu that's wiping out so many.

With the meat, those vacuum packed pieces get an unpleasant smell to them, but if you rinse the meat lightly and pat it dry with a paper towel, that takes care of it.

You can actually smell hormones/steroids? That in itself is an amazing talent!

I never smelled bad eggs.

BTW...you don't need to refrigerate eggs if you plan on using them sooner than a week after you bought them.

Think about how they stored them before refrigeration was in everyone's home.

Might you have a sinus infection or something going on in your mouth that's causing you to perceive these rotten smells?

Refrigerating eggs is an American thing. Go to Europe and they sell eggs on regular shelves.
