I eat too fast, especially if I'm eating hot food. Can't stand lukewarm food when it should be hot (except pizza, which I will eat at any temperature). I should eat all my hot food from a warming plate.

Same here. I eat way too fast and no matter how much I force myself to eat slower with other people, I still finish first.

I am a fast eater too, I tend to woof down my meal as if it were my last. Hubby and my mom tell me to slow down. I have been doing this most of my life. I should slow down though.

Unless there is dinner conversation, I tend to eat pretty fast.

I noticed that I was eating faster than my dinner companions so I watched to see just what it was they were doing between bites. They just sat there looking at their plates with an empty mouth. Bizarre!

Once I finish chewing and swallowing a bite of food, I rarely wait more than a couple of seconds before taking the next bite.

Usually, slower than the person I'm eating with. Somehow, they do all the talking, too.

I used to eat fast. We were taught to do so, so Mom could get the dishes washed ASAP and go down the block to socialize or get down to watching her westerns on TV. (we're talking Peg Bundy here)

But today I eat slower than anybody around. I think it's because I hold out for good food (I throw out anything that isn't particularly tasty) and if it's good, I want to enjoy it. The best part is that I now eat about half as much as I used to.

My husband and I taught school for over thirty years. Usually we had only 20 minutes for lunch and even less time for lunch when one of us had outside playground duty. Therefore, we both became fast eaters.

We've been retired since 2009. We still tend to eat very fast. A lot of the time we have to remind each other to slow down now and enjoy our food, but when we go out to eat with others we are usually the first ones finished no matter how slowly we think we are eating.

Eating fast is a habit we are both trying to break.
