They're mostly just bones. Why would they be preferred over a drumstick or a thigh?

Easier to eat/consume...

And honestly, I think many times they taste better, depending on the seasoning...

Buffalo wings come to mind...buffalo drumsticks and thighs? Not so much.

Question for the ages. I throw the wings away or put them in the soup pot.

Many wing recipes are exceptionally good. Wings are high fat and the taste of fat is attractive from an evolutionary point of view. Diners can lie to themselves that they are eating low fat because it is chicken.

The meat on wings has really good flavor.

I like wings better than any other parts. I cook whole wings with just seasoning salt...yum!

For me, the fat/meat ratio is perfect on wings and enhances the flavor. I know what I'm eating tonight.

I think the fat content attracts people and a high skin to meat ratio. I personally like meatier parts of the chicken.

The wing meat is good and the ratio of meat to skin (lots of skin) makes them among the most succulent bites on the bird.

I prefer thighs, but wings are my second favorite chicken part.

People who don't like chicken wings don't have to eat them if they don't want to.
