Just as several of us suspected, the story and study were fabricated.

Ehhhhh, I knew that as soon as I couldn't get the straight poop on what percentage of vegans eat bacon when plastered. NPR quoted the study as saying 67% of them do it the other weekend on "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" and now it's hovering around 33 & 1/3%.

Did you even read the article you linked to? That article is someone's (unsubstantiated) opinion that the study had a "90%" chance of being false (and a 10% chance of being real).

I.e., you, suspecting the study was faked, are linking to another person who suspected the study was fake, but now citing it as fact....

So we still don't know if the survey was actually carried out.

True. I should have said "almost certainly faked" or "incorrectly titled". The coupon site that claimed to have done the "study" or "survey" has a history of posting dramatic "survey" results for PR purposes. They can count on news outlets like Fox News to pick up stories like this. The study should have been called "One in Three Vegetarians Surveyed Admitted to Lying About Being Vegetarians"

According to a study I conducted, 1 in 3 meat-eaters admitted to secretly disliking vegetarians. 2 out of 3 indicated that they were thrilled with the drunk meat-eating vegetarian story.
