Hello,
Anyone know what is the percentage in restaurant tips? is that 20%?
Every time I go to my local Steak Restaurant, I pay with my credit card, and I always leave a tip, something like a 10%.
I have noticed lately, every time I check my credit card statement, they are charging me 20%.
I am not sure if I need to call American Express and file a complaint or this is something legal and people are obligated to pay a 20% tip?
For decent service, I tip 15% before the tax, and for great service, 20%. You are never obligated to tip, but if the service received is not satisfactory, bring it politely to the attention of the manager.
somewhere there is probably a sign, or small print,,,that 20% gratuity is automatically added
10% seems on the light side,,i think its been 15% for many years..
however,,if the total bill is a large sum...them 10% isn't so bad..
Thanks. Sounds like it is something that is automatically added, because this is the third time I go there and they charge 20%, even if I leave 10% tip.
I don't tip; tipping validates the practice of hiring beggars to bring me my food.
