They were a treat when I was growing up too! My mother not only didn't like to cook, but she went to school for a lot of my growing up time (she left college to marry my father) so a TV dinner was a lot better than most of what she made. My sister and I LOVED the Swanson's fried chicken, especailly the mashed potatoes and dessert- two things we never had in the house otherwise. Luckily my sister and I both learned to cook on our own .

I was a small child when I had probably my only tv dinner. I had no idea that they still made them. Of course, I rarely am in the frozen food aisle. However, remove the gravy and heat it separately. If the gravy is on the meal, then maybe putting it in a warm oven for a few minutes might work.

Amy's Organic makes several dinners that I rely on for work nights. Some are very low fat, others like the Ravioli and Veggies and Cheddar bowls and Pizza are excellent and have no chemicals and no meat. They.ve been a lifesaver. Those Banquet ones remind me of my "yout", watching "Creature Feature" on Friday nights! Or Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy. AHHH the good ole days.

The only frozen item of which I'm aware is ice cream.

To the OP's question I have found that food cooks better when you put it on the outer edge of the turntable so that no part stays in one place too long rather than putting it in the middle.

TV dinners were a treat when I was a kid. We didn't see those very often.

I haven't had a good frozen meal in years. The '70s, to be more precise. I can't remember the brand, but there was a chicken cordon bleu with long grain and wild rice and glazed carrots that I really liked. I've never found anything to replace it.
