These were introduced in a few test markets in the San Fran Bay Area, and they were a smash hit success. Hopefully they'll be making their way to all stores soon.

McDonald's sells out of garlic fries, Bay Area possibly closer to permanent garlicky goodness - SFGate

Quote:
McDonald's announced last week that they've been testing out garlic fries in four South Bay locations — and now apparently we've worn out all the garlic supplies.

McDonald's reps emailed SFGATE to confirm they are out of Gilroy Garlic Fries and will be out for the next few weeks.

"In less than two weeks, our small, four restaurant test of Gilroy Garlic Fries has been a huge success, and we are now experiencing a temporary shortage of supplies," the statement read. "We are excited about how many people have visited our restaurants to try the fries, and we apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."

This is a great idea! I love garlic, and McDonald's fries too when they've just come out of the fryer and they're not overcooked. If done right, this could be a success.

McD fries are not made of potatoes, they are made of processed corn meal for long life. Would rather have real potato fries from elsewhere.

McDonald's fries are made from Russet Burbank and Umatilla Russet potatoes combined with beef flavoring and dextrose, which give them their unique flavor and texture, along with a number of other seasonings and preservatives. The fact remains, however, that they are made from real potatoes.

I don't know any potatoes that can last as long as a year without getting mold. I found fries under my car seats that had been there for almost a year and still looks the same. No mold or changed color or shape.

Potatoes treated with a variety of preservatives. Still, real potatoes.

Thanks. Now I know I will definitely not be having their fries.
