Heard an interesting interview with Larry Olmsted, who's written about all the fake food being foisted off on us. He says, for instance, that when we order fish in restaurants, much of the time the fish we're served isn't the fish we've requested.

My mother started that many years ago.

You would not believe how many teeth marks were on the plastic fruit when we finally got rid of it.

If it's still fish, how does that make it "fake food?"

Do not order unidentifiable items at a restaurant. Stay away from salmon cakes!

I eat them all the time. Canned sockeye salmon, saltines, egg, salt, pepper.

Fake food = Kraft American 'cheese' slices. We stopped eating them when we discovered that the dog turned them down.

Margarine. I have no clue what it's even actually made of...

Or anything that insects won't touch... which includes things like processed cheese, white sandwich bread, and a few other items. I mean, if ants go out of their way to walk around something....why would anyone eat it?

Food: any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk, or otherwise taken into the body to sustain life, provide energy, promote growth, etc.

"Fake food" is something like LOOKS like it is food, but isn't.

Margarine is certainly food. And processed cheese. And white bread. (Ants definitely eat white bread and processed cheese.)

American cheese slices are what my BF slips his dog's vitamins into. She LOVES that cheese. I've never met a dog that doesn't scarf up those single slices. And every cat I have ever had has loved Kraft singles. You people have strange pets!
