I went to a restaurant right on the ocean this weekend and had my first taste of fish in many years! After getting through the first bite I actually enjoyed it. The first bite was tough because it was all mental but it actually tasted good. Here is what I had:

Oak Grilled Halibut
Tangerine buerre blanc, asparagus, jasmine rice

I'm really glad you liked the fish and that was probably a great dish to start. In the future though, I don't think your doctor would be supporting fish if it always came with buerre blanc and stuff.

baby steps...

But my post here is two fold. One for the omega 3 health benefit and also just because I want to experience a wider variety of food in my life. I eat unhealthy in general so this dish even with the buerre blanc was probably a step up. haha

That's awesome.

In my house we have a thing where I cook something I haven't cooked before. Last night was yucca, something I have never cooked, nor eaten.

Meh.

It's going to get weird around here as I have been a pretty adventuresome eater over about 30 years.

You might try sous-vide cooked fish.

The trick is to have the water bath at the finish temperature, and the fish won't be overcooked, tough, or dry.

Did you make yucca fries? That's the tastiest way I've eaten yucca. If they are prepared correctly they taste like very crispy potato fries.

No, I cooked and topped them with caramelized onions, macerated garlic in salt and lemon. I had cooked them with lime in the water. It was a Puerto Rican recipe.

Everyone went for those coated with the topping, the naked ones were left alone.

Of course, the healthful route. When I had boiled yucca, it was actually served with a fish dish.

I never met a fried food I didn't like.

But yeah, I went the healthier way.
