There are certain meals you've had in your lifetime that you can still remember years later.

For me, it was a trip to San Angelo Texas back in the '80s. It was like I had gone to beef steak heaven. Every restaurant in that town served enormous lapping off the plate steaks along with home made pies. I was there for 2 weeks and gained 5 pounds.

Since then I have looked far and wide for a steak that matched West Texas in 1982 and so far have came up short. I guess at some point I will need to take a road trip down there!

Anyone else had a steak they will never forget? Anyone know if West Texas still has beefsteak like they did back in those days?

great thread!!!

Steak is one of the rewards in life...... like ice cream , a trip to the brothel, or buying a boat, or new car

one of the best steaks I ever had was ....when I took my high school sweetheart out to dinner and proposed to her we went to a steak-house

in recent times..

I bought a whole prime sirloin strip and prime (grade) rib eye
cut them both up and -in the freezer .. they had more marbling than a maine woman
it was melt in your mouth!!!

At a restaurant owner's country house in Tuscany. Florence has a well-deserved reputation for great steak and this was no exception, but we ate it outside, drinking great wine in an incredible garden overlooking vineyards. It was a real "pinch me" movie, I felt like I was in a movie.

I'm not that much of a steak person, but my favorite was probably a filet I had at Brewer's Art in Baltimore.

Many many years ago before I became a vegetarian. A 'churrasco' at an Argentinian restaurant in Georgetown, DC. I also never had a salad as good as that day, same restaurant. I still remember the taste of the salad and compare every one to it! Weird memory...

After many years of not eating meat, I craved it during pregnancy and let my husband grill me a rib eye. It was wonderful. I've never had a restaurant steak that was very memorable.
