I don't understand how people think that pork is unhealthy, yet they eat every other type of meat, oil, bread, cake, etc.

I typically have several pork tenderloins in the freezer, the smaller the better. It's just perfect for two. Last week I bought them for about $4.50 @. I always have thick, bone in porkchops on hand and last week I got a pork butt, which l'll make with sauerkraut.

The cheapest way to feed a crowd is a pork loin roast. It's usually "what's for dinner" if I'm having a lot of people over.

Thinking about this as I go through a typical day, I need to increase my intake numbers. I also frequently eat bacon as a snack or for lunch (if I make too much in the morning), and if I buy a hamburger I always get it with bacon. If I get a salad, it has bacon on it. Omlette - bacon and sausage. Broccoli is only good smothered in bacon bits and Swiss cheese. So I guess I should say I have bacon on average 2 times a day.

BTW. I am a bacon fanatic. I have tried every kind of bacon I can get my hands on. The best bacon I have found, hands down, is the Kroger butcher thick cut bacon (if you have Kroger aka Ralph's and something else in the south), I get it coated with coarse ground black pepper, it is the same price with or without pepper. (3.99/pound)

Years ago it was thought pork contained trichinosis and was scary to consume.

I read in a newspaper that there is such an oversupply of butcher hogs ready for market that packing plants are working overtime and plan to work every Saturday in November and December.

Result of over supply is low prices for hog farmers but bargains for buyers of pork.
