I'd just want to find a good tasting dog. Most of them taste weird now. It is mostly because they are made with chicken, turkey, and all other crap meats that do not belong in a classic hot dog - all in the name of "healthy." There are some foods you want to eat 100% BECAUSE of taste, not because they are less bad for you.
As for Ketchup, I can take it or leave it on a dog - but it mostly works with a combination of ketchup, mustard, relish, and chopped (not fried) onions.
"Crap meats"you say? you any idea of what goes into a hotdog? Basically, the stuff they scrape from the slaughterhouse floor.
I love hot dogs! Grilled with spicy horse radish mustard, or with Coney Island onions, or with fresh chopped onion, tomatoes, dill pickles and celery salt, or chili, or sauerkraut and mustard. And many other toppings.
You like ketchup? Don't let the "Hot Dog Council" stop you. But do know what goes into your average hot dog.
For a hot dog I like relish, mustard and onions. But if sauerkraut is available I'll with that and onions. What do I like on my fries? Malt vinegar. Man, is that good!
Ketchup is the ONLY thing I ever put on hot dogs, or ever will put on them. And if the National Hot Dog Council doesn't like it . . . well, they can have my ketchup when they pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
As a kid going to A & W, I always got the hot dog with catsup only. Now, as an adult, I rarely eat hotdogs because of all the "fillers" like corn syrup. Really, you have to put on there whatever takes the taste away from the hot dog. Yuck!
