Like, say you're traveling...what kind of food will you Google to see what the best places are for in that city?

For me, it's neapolitan pizza. I won't go out of my way for regular pizza. But most cities will usually have at least 1 neapolitan pizzeria...sometimes 2 or 3 depending on the size of the city. And more and more neapolitan shops have been opening up, especially in the past 5-10 years. I haven't really been disappointed by any of them. Some better than others, but it's a hard thing to mess up.

What about you?

Pizza at L&B spumoni gardens Brooklyn NY Or a Hot dog from the Nathan's, Coney Island NY, cream cheese filled pretzels from Wawa. I had them down south in Delaware at a Wawa. You can buy them frozen online BTW.

Great seafood if I'm in a coastal city, specifically fish and chips at a beachside restaurant.

I always look for the local specialties, whatever the city or region is known for.

Basically this. I spent a good amount of time in Austin for work a few years ago and hit every BBQ place their. I love BBQ and it's one thing that we don't really have in LA so of course I was going to do the BBQ tour in Austin. But I'm not going to go looking for BBQ if I'm in Portland for example. I'll just eat whatever is good where I am even if it's the same type of food I can get back home. Why go looking for mediocre food?

+1.....I also look at the top 10 restaurants on Trip Advisor.

One rule I always follow, while on the road/vacation I never eat at any restaurant chain we have at home.....WHY would anyone ever do that!

I will admit, in times of desperation I will concede to a chain if the local options are unsavory. One time in Sandusky, Ohio the Fridays was really the only viable restaurant option. That had to be 5 years ago and I haven't visited one since!

Indian pudding. Someone brought us some from the Maine Diner the other day. Then we had some more at Warren's Lobster House. It's local and is becoming hard to find. I know it's not that healthy but man on man, is it good and I will go out of my way to get it.
