I know an unopened jar has a shelf life on the lid, but what about after its opened? I'd like to refrigerate it, but the instructions say not to.

How long does it stay good after opened? I've had a jar for a month and I'm not even half way through it. I'd hate to waste it!
Well what on EARTH is wrong with you.
I have NEVER had this problem at my house. They just don't hang around that long. I would have to be throwing up my toenails to NOT be eating Nutella. My daughter has to hide the jar from me.

Having said that, I have put it in the refrigerator because I prefer mine on strawberries and I wanted to save it for them, it only messes up the consistency but if you give it a little heat and a stir once you take it out, you have chocolate heaven again.

The only time Nutella sits on the shelf after its opened is when we are out of town. My kids love it.

I keep it like I keep peanut butter and never had a problem with it going bad. If it sits there so long that it starts to separate you might want to toss it but that should take many months.

Speaking of Nutella--I bought my first jar yesterday!!! I was SO excited to see it on sale, so I snatched it up.

When I got home, I went to open it to take a taste (even though it was midnight!), but the seal was BROKEN! Now I have to take it back...no Nutella for me, I guess!

I'm surprised there wasn't a big streak missing from the finger that scooped out a big swab!!! lol

Mo... if your grocer has croissants, put some on there... you'll fall in love and the jar won't last you two weeks after that!!! LOL

Nutella... you can eat it for a minimum of 6 month after opening, great german stuff :-)

Melanie / Germany

keep it in a dark cold place after opening, no hard sun, no heat, but NO FRIDGE...
