What's For Dinner Tonight -- 2017 (burgers, grilled, mushroom, tomatoes)

Tonight will be "ramen". I made bone broth with left over bones from other meals, aromatics and kombu, with buckwheat noodles, spinach, wakame, asparagus, green onions, shiitake mushrooms, green beans.... and maybe other stuff as I find it....

Tonight, a pilot friend of my husband's is coming for dinner and is looking forward to a home cooked meal. My husband has developed a very bad habit of springing last minute guests or visitors on me.

I thought I'd do something that seems fancy but is really easy so he will feel I made a special effort. (Okay, I want him and my husband to feel a tad bit guilty as well since this is Monday after all!)

We are having pork marsala (marsala wine, garlic, and herbs sauce) with mushroom risotto, steamed asparagus and a bottle or two of Veuve.

A nice little pork roast with garlic, rosemary and balsamic. Baked sweet potato, and stir fried broccoli and cauliflower. Applesauce.

Grilled Cajun red bean burgers with creamy remoulade sauce. Grilled sweet corn on the cob, sliced garden tomatoes, tossed salad.

I bought a 22# case of ates and a couple of cases of mangoes and 20# of assorted produce for $10 this past weekend and we are gradually freezing or using up all of it.

Dessert: scoop of Breyers salted caramel gelato

On the run it was a pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun. Fresh fruit at home later.
