We decided on lamb patties, mint jelly, roasted potatoes and peas. Red velvet cake.

I'll serve the chili with grated cheese, green onion, sour cream, and saltines, just like my mama used to do.
Sounds good. I just heard that a friend’s husband’s secret chili ingredient is a couple of drops of anise. Just sayin. I haven’t tried it yet.

I replaced the beer with 5 oz of Berry Cola flavor New York Seltzer. Not as good as beer, but not bad.

Tonight, I think I am going to make something I saw on CuttThroat Kitchen one night. Guy had his bread taken away and I forget what he was supposed to make, but he made do with the following..and won!

Handful of hashbrowns fried til golden on outside, sofe inside.
Couple of strips of bacon (I use turkey bacon)
1 egg, poached or fried.
Stuff in flour or corn tortilla shell (soft, not hard).
Top with salsa.

When the judge bit into it, the yellow of the egg burst all along the "taco" and dripped into the hashbrowns...and was ever so tasty!

A bit cool today in SW Florida, so it felt like soup today. I made one of my absolute favorites: French Onion Soup. Sautéing the onions til they started caramelizing filled the kitchen with a wonderful aroma. I made the croutons from a baguette, topped it with grated Gruyere, and grilled it til it was nice and browned. Delicious!

I was going to make crockpot chili but was too lazy. Instead I made penne pasta with spinach, olives, onion, and homemade hummus mixed in everything.
