We don't eat out a lot, but my spouse and I like to occasionally dine at a restaurant with a particular kind of cuisine, we've been to this restaurant a few times and love the food. We always get the same waiter. At the end of the meal, he tells us they are "out of" dessert (ALL the desserts on the menu, that is) and then looks annoyed when we order a coffee and sit there for a few more minutes to drink it. It is a small restaurant with not many tables. We don't like being rushed out the door right after a meal, and this food is more on the pricey side. Would you complain to the manager about it? There is another restaurant in our city that serves the same type of food but it's a very long drive.
I think you are way over reacting. How did he look annoyed? How long is a few minutes? Three? Or thirty? Did he rush you or you just interpreted the look as him wanting you out?
If the experience doesn't live up to your expectations, by all means speak to the manager. I agree with you. I find it hard to believe they have been out of ALL desserts each time you've dined there; restaurants normally adjust to accommodate demand.
What???? How does that address the OP's recurring problem???
I don't think she meant it was a recurring problem, simply a restaurant they enjoy going to and had this problem on the last visit.
~I can't imagine any waiter worth their salt repeatedly telling customers there isn't any dessert. That would be taking money off the ticket and decreasing their tip, who does that?
If you are a regular with this waiter is there a chance that he feels that the gratuity you leave him is too low. If you are a 15-20% tipper that is unlikely but it's just a thought on why he would be rude.
This happened once? Jeez. Too much time on your hands, pal?
You didn't read.
It's happened several times.
