Waffle House tastes better IMO, but for whatever reason, I always get an upset stomach after eating there. Huddle House is just... very bland.
That said, give me some Denny's over all cheap breakfast spots any day. People like to talk it down I guess because it's cheap and all, but I actually like most of what they serve.
Yes Denny's is good and popular to talk down. I prefer them to IHOP for anything other than breakfasts.
One thing about Waffle House, it'd be nice if they had fries. Hash-browns and Grits are the only sides they offer. It'd also be nice if they had country-fried steaks...
Growing up around Atlanta, Waffle House is more common and seems to be a better run business, but, there is very little difference in the menu between them and Huddle House.
It is what it is. The better run and cleaner examples offer good sturdy diner type chow for a decent price, served quick. I have had worse.
Cracker Barrel is a different breed of cat. Much bigger menu, not as oriented towards breakfast - although they make a very good breakfast as well.
I've only eaten at a Waffle House once about two years ago and don't know Huddle House. They served me a plate of hash browns that was to die for.
But atmosphere is half the experience and truthfully the place was filthy, the staff was unkempt and there were a lot of shady characters hanging around. That put a damper on the enjoyment.
Still, I'd go back again for some more of those potatoes.
