KFC has brought actor Rob Lowe on as its new colonel to debut its Zinger sandwich.
The new Zinger is described as a "100 percent white meat breast filet, hand-breaded and fried to a golden brown by trained cooks in every KFC kitchen, and served with lettuce and Colonel's mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun."
I don't know. It was a pretty savvy marketing move for KFC to take a campaign that didn't work (with Darrel Hammond as The Colonel) and turn it around into a rotating cast of comedians/actors in the role.
Our local KFC has so much garlic in their chicken tenders that I could hardly eat them. Is this normal or is there a manager dictating his own tastes on to the product. When I eat fried chicken, I do not want to taste garlic. I do not have an Italian bone in my body.

It didn't surprise me at all. He always had outrageous humor. I was an 80s teen and remember his films from back in the day. Here, he played a biblical figure.
The irony is well known to the 80s teen because he got caught in a scandal some years later. I guess the ad executives thought it was far enough back in the past to use him for a family chain of chicken food. But still, I doubt Chick-fil-A would not use him for ads. That scandal happened in Atlanta which is Chick-fil-A's home base. Rob Lowe - Celebrity arrests they wish they could forget - Pictures - CBS News

My thoughts as well. I think it's all very intentional.
