Depends... "they" say some plastic containers are safe under optimale conditions. But things change every few years. I use glass, and don't need to be worry what some researchers will find down the road...
It's not the storing in plastic that poses a problem (provided it's a food grade plastic and free of BPAs). The problem is when heating in plastic. The heat causes the plastic to break down and leech into the food.
Depending on what I'm storing/cooking, if it has a plastic lid, I'll place/wrap a sheet of plastic wrap around it's cover, only because plastic also retains odors.
The plastic around the lid or glass container also helps in getting a tighter-fitting lid .
I try to avoid buying acidic items in plastic, such as vinegar, although I do make exceptions for Sriracha Sauce and also their Chili Garlic Sauce!
could care less, we still use our plastic containers.
Ah, my separated at birth sister reappears! I rarely use anything other than plastic for storage, including plastic wrap, plastic containers, baggies, and even (oh, the horrors) leftover takeout left in Styrofoam.
I admit, I never reheat in Styrofoam and rarely in plastic (though I do defrost in plastic.
I use hard plastic containers to store food in and out of the refrigerator but I don't store foods in plastic baggies because it affects the taste of the food stored in them. Why I don't know but I don't like it. I don't microwave any foods in/on plastic as that is unsafe. I use my Corelle bowls and plates when microwaving.

Agreed 100%! I have enough things to worry about.
