That's how people are.The dumber ones at least. They get really really excited about the new article they read on Mens Fitness and are dying to show the world how smart they are.
I have (HAD) a friend like this. His uncle told him salt was bad for him,so he felt the need to pass it on to me.
Did I feel the need to correct him that only in excess which will imbalance your water/electrolytes .
For what,he's an idiot.

It's not just food, it's drink too!

When I was obviously pregnant, I was at the grocery store in the coffee aisle. The reason for this was that my mother would be coming to help me with the baby and I wanted to make sure she had coffee. Now, we know that caffeine is not great for pregnancy but I didn't like coffee even before I was pregnant. Nonetheless, a busybody walked up to me in the grocery while I am shopping for coffee and proceeds to tell me that I shouldn't drink coffee because it is bad for the baby! Unbelievable!

That's funny. No caffeine for pregnant women wasn't even a thing at all 26 years ago.

It's not not taboo.
Just cuz lots of people do something does not make it acceptable.

Omnivores think nothing of lecturing and mocking vegans and vegetarians all the time.

It wasn't. A little further back, women smoked with no admonishment from the doctor.

Vegans and vegetarians think nothing of pronouncing themselves holier than thou.

I get it from BOTH sides o the aisle.

I eat fish and chicken but no mammals. I have relatives who think this is odd, unhealthy and unAmerican.

I have vegan/vegetarian friends who shake their heads when I get a chicken sandwich and lecture me on the evils of factory farming.

I can't make anyone happy. Except myself

But we don't do it to their faces.

Nice that you lump us all into one category. Personally I've never made comments about someone's choice to be vegetarian/vegan, but I've had people who choose to live that lifestyle make snotty comments about my choice to eat meat.
