Once during my first pregnancy, we went to a Ruth's Chris steakhouse for an event, and in the interest of watching what I was eating, I ordered a steak medium well (I usually order medium rare). I was assured that it would still be juicy and tender even at that cooking temp, after all, it's Ruth's Chris. It was not. I spent the rest of the evening looking longingly at everyone else's steak.
During my second pregnancy, I ordered steak medium rare again. I also didn't worry avoid avoiding deli meat, blue cheeses, or any of the other foods that they try to scare you away from. I was much happier....
But I don't care if my food is organic, grass fed, non gmo, halal, vegan, massaged by 47 virgins, free range, etc etc etc. I care how it tastes and, secondly, what it costs.
And I eat my steak rare to medium rare. Friends that insist on well done beef don't get steak or prime rib at our house. They get chicken.

I wish more and more women would come to your same conclusion,,,
eat what you like and don't get scared away at everything you hear on the news..
I'm in the meat retail business and you wouldn't believe the questions I get ..
not from rural country girls,,,but mostly the urban city dwellers that have been scared to death by the most recent "this meat will kill you" headline
I got asked a couple days ago why we don't label our beef- that its been injected with red dye...I said because it hasn't.... she just sarcastically smiled and walked away not belieiving anything I had to say..
I brought this up at a managers meeting and a couple lady's offered there was "something" going around on the internet about beef being injected with red dye..

The wife of one of my husband's partners was a butcher's daughter. She was a fantastic cook, her steak especially. She used to say if you were stuck buying your meat from a grocery store, the trick was the buy the older, brown "Manager's Special" stuff and then put it in the fridge and let it sit and age for a "while".
That kind of made me nervous, but I could not argue with her melt in your mouth results.
