I'm from NYC but currently live in Cambridge, MA. I spent many years in the restaurant industry in both.
When you say the meals are $100 per person, do you mean that's the average food check or is that the cost of a tasting menu? Three figures for three courses is a pretty high price point, even for a place like New York.
Of course, if you mean that's the all-in price (tax, tip and alcohol) then that's different.
Total bill for 2 people was $275. Four course. Soup, Salad, Entree, Dessert. 3-4 glasses of wine.
I eat at a variety of places and the regular every day restaurants do not have wonderful appetizers. I eat out often. More than the average person.
And yet you either don't go to places where first courses/bar food consists of food beyond Sysco fried food. I assure, these places are out there in abundance.
Location: Finally the house is done and we are in Port St. Lucie!

Is Ruth Chris good? I do not eat steak, so I have never found my way there, but I have wanted to check it out.
I can only recommend the filet mignon. That is the only thing I have gotten there. Their sides are pretty darn good and worth the cost. Love their potatoes au gratin and mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. The sides are large enough to share with another person.
I can only imagine that the other entrees are just as delicious

The service is impeccable.
Yum..mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. The filet mignon would not be my cup of tea.

I go to a variety of places. The everyday restaurants are more of your fried food variety appetizers.

Okay, but your idea of an "everyday restaurant" is clearly different than mine.
