I like cod fish from Sam's club and now wondering if they get their fish from China?

The label “Made In China” is so ubiquitous in the U.S., that we expect to see it on the majority of goods in our homes. However, one place you may not expect to see it is in foods you eat every day.

Frozen scallops are one of those foods..

But what really got me was when I called the local fish supplier and got told their scallops were farmed and frozen..
It was scallop season.. Why?

I thought this isn't news anymore, and by now everyone should know that almost everything you buy in the US is made somewhere in Asia. Even if Made In USA - most components are made somewhere else.

I saw some tins of Danish Butter cookies in a store. My receptionist likes them so I was gonna pick up a few to have on hand. Turned the tin over and saw that the Danish butter cookies were actually Chinese oil cookies. Yuck.

Frozen pink salmon (product of China) one big packet (can't recall the exact weight/possibly 1kg) for $18. Costco nearest my home no longer stock wild arctic shrimps for many years now; they only have farmed shrimps from Vietnam and India.

I have not seen these yet.

But some of us are not lucky enough to get fresh fish like where you live. One of the few things I miss about living in San Gabriel Valley was the fish. OK, so we were not quite as far east as you, but the same general region.

I love sushi/sashimi made with farmed salmon. It has a higher fat content and I prefer the flavor.

Not all Danish Butter Cookies is made in Denmark, like Polish Sausage is not made in Poland. They don't even use original recipe. That food not even resemble original taste or ingredients. It's just a marketing gimmick. But depends on the brand - Danisa butter cookies advocates "the same brand with the same quality in the world" for its criterion, wherever it is made, it must strictly comply with it’s traditional Danish recipe invariant requirements, provide all the people in the world with the delicious butter cookies.

People just heard that European cookies are good, or Polish sausage is delicious, and they buy it "thinking" that's how the the "real" stuff taste like.
