Ok, I admit it ! Every workday for the past 3 years I've made a pilgrimage to the temple of Starbucks for my Double-Shot Mocha Latte. I used to think of it as a luxury, not it's an absolute must or I WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AT MY JOB .
Starbucks always tastes a bit burnt to me.
Rather than spend 3,4,5 bucks a day at Starbucks, we plunked down a few hundred for an automatic cappucino machine and make our own every morning.
I do like their CD mixes though.
I don't go there daily but a couple times a week for their frappachinos. Love the caramel, banana coconut, and peppermint mocha. My 3 year old son is an addict too. He gets the vanilla organic milk or the vanilla frapachino (don't worry, no caffeine in those).
I hardly ever get the hot coffee but I love the pumpkin spice latte, yummmmmy! I will be picking up one of those babies in the morning on the way to Knotts berry farm. Signing off for the weekend, read ya all monday!
I am going to go out on a limb and say I have never had Starbucks. I don't even think I have ever been in one and they are here in Germany too. Not because I have anything against them, it has just never happened.
If they could add shots to their hot chocolate I'd be all over it and only when it is cold out, hot drinks in the heat - ewww. I'd prefer a big glass of iced tea in the summer. As it is, I'm not a big coffee drinker and my tummy does not care for too much dairy so I don't visit often. They even have one inside the SuperTarget that I shop at several times a week and I've maybe stopped there a handful of times. My kids like the hot chocolate too and I like in the winter when they have the peppermint hot chocolate. As it is, I'd rather just save my money and make some at home to go and be w/o the dairy that does not like me and can add on the pounds.
I tried Star bucks once and didn't care for it. My small town has the best little drive threw coffee. My favorite is the milkshakes.
Our main grocery store just put in a Star Bucks . The little drive threw place is still getting the same amount of business. I think their coffee blows away Star Bucks. I have asked the owner if he has thought about becoming a chain. He said he is working on that right now. Some good coffee coming your way soon.?
I'm a recovering Starbucks addict :=) When I realized that I was spending enough money each month on COFFEE to feed a small army, I quit. Money better spent on charitable causes.
My best friend spends $8 and change at least twice a day for an enormous raspberry/chocolate something or other. That is more than $5800/year. She knows it is ridiculous, but can't seem to help herself. She will drive 10 miles out of her way to get to the only Starbuck's in her area before she even gets her eyes fully opened in the morning.
Personally, I don't drink coffee. I would have a hard time justifying that kind of expense.
I kind of boycott Starbucks in order to support the thriving independent coffeehouse scene in Austin and other places I visit. Having said that, Starbucks has a lot going for it. Their training program gets their employees to treat customers well and they serve EXCELLENT drinks! And you mostly don't get that "hipper than thou" attitude from them that you get at the indy coffeehouses. It's a toss-up but I'll flip the coin and go to the indy in order to support local small business. I don't like big chain stores. Yes I do. I love World Market, Target, I'll even make a trip to Walmart to save a buck.... What's a modern liberal to do in these times?
