Here's the problem. Yesterday spinach was good and now it's not so good. Tomorrow a new study will show spinach fights off cancer. The same with coffee and fats in your food and almost everything else. Everyday, a new study changes what we thought was true. So take it all for what's it's worth, because tomorrow there will be a new study telling you eating a charbroiled steak or 3 tablespoons of sugar every day is very healthy for you and avocados cause cancer.

Lots of foods have oxalates, and it looks like the major concern is if you have a certain type of kidney stones you should be aware, for everyone else... not so much.

Oxalic-acid in the body has a strong affinity to bid with calcium, thusly forming bodily-stones.

So you eat a lot of foods with a high amount of oxalates, they combine with calcium (or other minerals) and you end up with kidney-stones.

I will attest to this, last time I had kidney stones, this was the EXACT reason I got them; since then, no more spinach for me, and reduce oxalates, and stone free for 6 years now..

Olive Oil digs me when I eat spinach and I get to beat up Brutus with my huge forearms. I ams what I ams.

I eat spinach weekly in a cooked meal and usually weekly in a salad. It’s a grocery cart staple along with romaine and mixed greens.

I eat a LOT of kale, spinach, arugula and the like and have no problems with stones.

Other foods with oxalates:

Beans.
Beer.
Beets.
Berries.
Chocolate.
Coffee.
Cranberries.
Dark green vegetables, such as spinach.

If you have a tendency towards stones of that type, don't eat that stuff.

I don't think I ever heard of kale my whole life till recently and Im sure it didn't just HAPPEN to start growing and someone noticed.

well heck... I just went searching and will answer my own question.....IT WAS ALL MARKETING AND PR!!

unbelievable....same thing with pom juice. shaking my head.....going to get a spinach salad.

It also depends on the individual, some are more susceptible to bodily-stones than others.

If you are susceptible don't try sorrel.

Fortunately I'm not susceptible and like my sorrel sauce.
