got home last yesterday, to tired to hassle with Chinese food and all the prep, so we had Salmon last night with asparagus and avocado salad. Tonight I will do the Chinese dinner. And I will make a big mess, for spoiled brat to clean up. He said he would do the dishes tonight cause it is my BD.

Happy BD, nmnita!

Last night was burgers with caramelized onions and they were huge, so no dessert.

Tonight will be pan fried pork chops and steamed asparagus; banana sundaes for dessert.

Well happy birthday nmnita!

Today I am making a large batch of red sauce with sausage and ground beef. Tonight I will take some of that and make a lasagna. I will freeze the rest of the sauce.
Have a great Friday everyone!

Making of mix of ground turkey, peppers, tomatoes and spices that will either go into quesadillas or corn tortillas for tacos. Will also make my current favorite slaw, Bobby Flay's green onion slaw. Avocado slices and more leftover sweet-potato croquettes on the side. Will be finishing up hubby's birthday German choc cake for dessert. Happy Friday!

Tonight savoy cabbage rolls in beer sauce enjoyed with a good beer.Homemade Bauernbrot for dipping the leftover sauce. For dessert meringue with vanilla ice cream and warm strawberry sauce.

8 large savoy cabbage leaves
1 lb potatoes
2 red onions
1 Granny Smith apple
2 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp chopped hazelnuts
3 tbsp grated Gruyère cheese
1 egg
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp flour
150 ml beer of your choice ( and finish the rest yourself while cooking )
3 oz cream (or less if you prefer)
salt/black pepper to taste
Blanch savoy cabbage leaves for up to 3 minutes in saltwater.Meanwhile peel and grate potatoes and cook about 5 minutes in saltwater and let cool down.Dice one red onion and the apple finely and sauté briefly in olive oil. Next add chopped hazelnuts. Add the mixture and grated Gruyère cheese to the grated cooked potatoes. Whisk egg in and flavor. Now spread the savoy leaves and put spoonful of that mixture on top of the leaves.Roll them up and use kitchen string and fry the rolls from all sides brown and remove to a warmed plate.Lastly sauté the other finely diced red onion, adding sugar and flour.Pour the 150 ml beer of your choice and 100 ml water to it and let cook about 5 ish minutes. Just keep an eye on it.Finally add cream and taste test and put the rolls back in the sauce.

Have a relaxing weekend everyone and Happy Birthday and best wishes to nmnita & gentlearts
