DH finally shifted gears. He's getting set to grill and smoke. We've got two racks of baby back pork ribs, pounds and pounds of natural casing beef wieners and hamburger. It will be a big production in the back yard and maybe a few neighbors will come for a taste.

Every now and then one or two stroll over and share a bite when they're grilling. I really like that. When you're out there enjoying the aroma I think it's very nice to also get a taste!

I'd like to make some herbed oven-roasted potatoes but we are truly loaded down with a cornucopia of blessings and better eat what we've got first. Same for fresh sweet corn. Want to buy more right now while it's at it's peak.

Friend gave us kohlrabis so we'll be eating them. Strawberry pie and ice cream.

Too many fresh tomatoes to eat but not enough to go to the trouble of freezing them. So today I am going to make a double recipe of my dad's fresh cream of tomato soup and freeze that.

It's unseasonably cool here lately so it will be a good afternoon to grill and cook.

Is this an extended Canada Day, Alm? Your party sounds wonderful. I haven't had ice cream cake since I was 14... that was in the 1700s. Next b'day... either a whipped cream cake or ice cream cake!

Have fun!

^^^ I second what A.Typical.Girl said! Have fun, Alm!

Tonight for me, I went back to an old favorite -- Shake & Bake parmesan crusted chicken thighs ...

Veggies, my usual! I'm out of carrots, snow peas, and tomatoes so I need to make a run to Hannaford tomorrow. Oh, I did add some Italian seasoning to the pan -- I always add a bit of chili flakes but I often try another seasoning as well. The veggies were as delicious as the chicken. YUM!

Oh, Terry Fox. I remember that young lad. Nice he's remembered.

I love the taste of Shake & Bake, but haven't had it in years. I found a hacker recipe online one day, 20-yrs ago & forgot all about it. Thank you for the reminder... I'll be making that soon. My mum is visiting in 2-wks & will be staying about 1-mo... she liked it, too. Enjoy, Karen.
