I've eaten just about every food that's come within arms length of my mouth for enough decades to (almost) stop being curious. I stopped to look at the pitaya, dragon fruit, in the supermarket last week, though. I should buy one.

Banana-chocolate cake. On a whim, I mixed up the batter for a packaged devils food cake mix, and poured half in the square pan. Then I arranged a layer of sliced bananas on it, and poured on the rest of the batter, everything according to package directions. It came out nice. Nothing special, but it was moister than usual. There was a subtle mellowness, but one would not guess bananas were in there if not told. The banana slices completely cooked, and amalgamated into the body of the cake, and were not visible in the cake as such. I thought Id be able to detect a layer of banana "icing" in there, but there was only a slight texture change in the center.

I'm late to the party on this: kale.

I "built" a salad at a salad bar this afternoon to take home for dinner. And there was the kale. I figured that it was time to try it. And just like Mikey from the old cereal commercial, "(s)he likes it, (s)he likes it!"
