...back to the drawing board.

It was hardly set after 2 hours in the fridge and that was after cutting down on the milk...it was better after overnight but then goopy again after a couple hours sitting out. The taste was good but I can't subject others to eating something that looks vaguely like baby poo!

And obviously, I'm alive to report about it - food poisoning, for myself at least, was never a real concern - not for a couple hours for sure.

Food poisoning can certainly happen long before 2 hours!

I'd make a fruit pie, not one that needs refrigeration. I don't worry about food poisoning with pies and cakes, which I never refrigerate unless necessary. And one with Cool Whip needs to be served cold.

You could always put it in a cooler, with many "cold packs" to keep it chilled until time to serve.
