So what if it does contain agar-agar? It's simply a product, derived from algae, that is used as a thickener or gelling agent. Other products used as thickeners include cellulose gum, guar gum, and carrageenan.
I agree: compared to most food additives, this seems fairly innocuous. Especially considering that algae is seaweed, which is a perfectly healthy food item.
I don't trust it. First you get the non-melting ice cream to mix with the gluten-free beer and the hamburger made from meat grown in a lab and next thing you know: zombie apocalypse. Plus where's the fun? Lapping up a cone before it drips on to your fingers, letting your scoop of orange sherbet soften and melt in the same bowl as your scoop of vanilla so you get a creamsicle thing going on...
