They also work better if you preheat them by pouring in hot water first for a couple minutes. Then dump it out and refill with your “real” hot water or tea.

I doubt the library would appreciate you bringing in your own electric kettle.
Yeah didn't knew about thermos which can keep drinks hot for longer. Actually that would be much better for me so I don't have to carry milk and water in different container and heat it up over there... I can preheat the mixture before hand at home and then use it as is. Will take a look at it. Thanks for sharing!

Mr Coffee makes a smal single cup machine. Just use it to heat the water and make your tea from there. Won't take up much counter space and you could have hot tea on demand.

I think you better ask the library first what appliances you're allowed to bring and use in there.

You clearly have the wrong thermos. There are ones that keep it hot for 8 hours or more. They are more expensive however.

Yeah, I've found your basic Stanley or Thermos brand thermoses keep my tea hot for 10 or so hours even with opening it several times a day. And I would have to bring it outside for about 90 minutes in 20 degree weather.

just don't use an immersion heater in anything but water. They are a pain to clean.

Get a good quality stainless steel thermos, not one with the glass sleeve. I have a Nissan qt. one that the coffee is as hot at noon after sitting in a 30 degree goose blind as it was when I poured it in at 4AM. I've had it for probably 25+ years. It's somewhat dented up.

Stanley is also a good one:
