Well, the Buena Vista Café in San Francisco claims to have introduced Irish Coffee to the United States in 1952 after a travel writer experienced the drink at the Shannon Airport in the early days of transatlantic flight. The claim is not widely disputed although a bar in Los Angeles says they were first but apparently has no backstory to support it.

If a travel writer had it in Ireland & then gave the idea to a bar in San Francisco, then it was not invented in SF. They did introduce it, to America, but they did not invent it.

Yes to both of these posts.

Born and raised in Chicago, both parents from the south, love all of the above, plus fried green tomatoes; enough said.

The only thing I don't think I have ever eaten (at least once in my lifetime) are insects, by whatever culinary practices there are for that.

Egg cream, black & white cookie, baconeggandcheese.

I'll take your share of that horse meat,dtl3000. Where do you live? I remember when there was a beef shortage in the 70s we could get horse meat. Can't get it any more but it was so good.

Faygo.

CIder and doughnuts (ok they are probably everywhere, but they are a major fall tradition everyone visits the cider mills here at some point).

Bell's Oberon and Two Hearted ale.

That Italian thing they make up in Marquette that no one can pronounce or spell.
