What's a food from your home state or country that would seem odd to an outsider? Or better yet, what dish have you only seen served where you're from?

I have lived in areas throughout the US, but I have only encountered chocolate grave here in Arkansas. It's probably served in other parts of the South but I'm not sure. It's served over biscuits and made from a roux with butter and cocoa. If you had it growing up let me know. Whenever I've mentioned it to people from other areas, they had never heard of it.

So what's a food or dish that is special to your home?

And yeah.. chocolate gravy is here in N. Alabama also. I didn't have it growing up (I grew up in Ct).. but my kids did. But only when they spent the night with friends.

Overprocessed salty, fatty and overly sweet food, fortified with synthetic vitamins and colored with toxic dyes. (too many to list)
Pretty much odd to anyone not living in the US.

I doubt anything, other than wild edibles, would be considered odd to anyone outside of Florida.

In some parts of the Midwest we had a lot of immigrants from Eastern Europe about 100 years ago.

There are actually restaurants that specialize in bierocks/pirogi sandwiches. There is even a fast food chain called Runza that is known for its bierocks.

My son in law grew up in the Cincinnati area, and his mother made goetta, a loaf of oatmeal and sausage, which is sliced and fried like corn meal mush. It seems confined to that area of Ohio, same as Skyline chili.

I couldn't think of much that can't be found elsewhere nowadays. I think, unless someone says I am wrong, scali bread. I have never seen it outside of Massachusetts. In fact I have a hard time finding it since moving to central Massachusetts, so more of an eastern Mass thing. https://blog.kingarthurflour.com/200...f-scali-bread/ My family loves it.

Maybe frappes too. Although that is really just our version of a milkshake.

Bierock! I had to Google! Never heard of it. Interesting....

I heard that breakfast tacos on Sunday are not available outside of Texas. Food available at Buc-ee’s ( Buc-ee’s are only in Texas),
