I used to eat cheddar like that. Now we prefer a "cheese course", usually with a triple creme, blue and either a hard cheese or semi-soft, various crackers and fruit such as apples and grapes, maybe a homemade fig jam as well.

I grew up in the 50’s and most gas stations always had hoop cheese for sale. Don’t know if it was sharp or mild, just that it was yellow and with some soda crackers and a coke(Coca cola,Pepsi, RC Cola,Double Cola, etc)made a good dinner(lunch).

Yes, we can buy mature English Cheddar here in Germany (English cheese made in Germany with milk from the Netherlands, and made to an Irish recipe!), and it is great to cut into small blocks block and eat them. But we do that with other hard cheeses too, washed down with a cold beer.

Yes, all the time. And I used to dislike cheese unless it was melted and gooey..

That is crazy!

I eat cheese the way it is supposed to be eaten, shredded, one shred at a time with a teeny, tiny fork.
