Celery is the best way to get buffalo chicken dip into the mouth.

Celery filled with peanut butter (with raisins on top, for the proverbial "ants on a log") and celery filled with cream cheese were stock Girl Scout meeting snacks when I was little in the 80s.

Celery does have a strong flavor; that's exactly why it gets used so liberally. It's strong without being oniony or garlicky, which many people hate.

Necessary for mirepoix. I always have celery in my fridge, and I use it liberally.

I have a feeling y'all are talking about Chung King! So 80s - I remember the TV commercials. My parents were not familiar with Chinese food and when my mom got a coupon for this, she bought it. God, it was awful. Thank god we eventually went to a nice Chinese place, wow!

I never 'got' why my sister loved chomping on raw celery stalks when we were kids. I thought I'd give it a try, seeing how enthusiastically she ate them. One bite and I was finished - like stringy cords that oozed nasty juice. Yuk!

I'll use stalks to flavor soups but I fish them out and discard before serving. I cannot eat stuffing with big honking chunks of celery in it - nope.

It can, I guess. I usually think of celery as a "flavor absorber" than a flavor creator. They must be cooking the celery in something different and adding it to the main dish. They must have a broth that is used for some of there dishes and use a lot of celery, like a fish broth. Put that into a chicken dinner and I'm sure the celery will over power the main dish.
