I didn't know if this would go in Health and Wellness or here maybe with people being knowledgeable about canning-type issues.

My single-serving greek yogurt container has the typical foil-type lid you pull back. I immediately noticed it was puffed out and very taut where always before it is just flat and has a slight amount of give to it.

I pulled back the lid carefully thinking maybe it was moldy or otherwise bad but it looks just fine and smells fine. The consistency is the same as usual. It just made me think of the warnings to not use canned goods if lids were distended. To be clear, it's not like it had been opened or tampered with.

I'm at work and starving so I can't just get another container...ha. What are everyone's thoughts?

I've had a few like that. I ate 'em. I figured it was just from the live bacteria. My guess is the bacteria was still pretty active when it got sealed.

Yes, the foil lids are like that sometimes. I have never noticed any change in quality and it's certainly never made me sick (but then I eat all sorts of things that make people on C-D turn pale with shock and I've never gotten sick).

Yogurt contains good bacteria. The bacteria naturally produce gas and this could cause the foil lid to swell a bit. No problem.

Before I started making my own yogurt, I used to buy the Lucerne brand yogurts and sometimes when I opened them, they had a bit of built up pressure and they splattered yogurt all over me! I ate them anyway - no harm was done. I figured like everyone else was saying that those active cultures were being overactive!
