I would ask to see their business license. No way are they a professional. Is their kitchen up to code? I suspect cats walking on top of the counter and children sticking their finger in the batter.

I would never order a cake from there. I looked at the pictures and they all reminded me of the ones you see on websites about Pinterest fails.

I like the ones with a lot of fruit.

I agree! I know they are trendy and at some point, they will look dated and people will stop having them. But for now, I think they are a refreshing change of pace so they look attractive to me. Plus I mostly eat around the frosting anyway, so I think I'd prefer the way they taste.

Yeah...it almost looks like cakes someone would post on Pinterest...

My God, that's like High school 3rd place for art class...I didn't see anything I'd want to pay $12 for...

But I agree, they are fairly amateur looking... if they taste good enough, though, I wouldn't care! And it's not like I could do any better myself, so I'll try to be nice.

not really. This would be an example of a non-badly done version of a Peppa Pig cake.

I didn't say it was a GOOD rendering - just that it's mostly accurate, lol.

To me, a cake without frosting is just a large muffin.

I don't have the tolerance for sweetness like I did when I was young, but still need frosting on a cake! Vanilla buttercream (the real kind) is my favorite, and I don't mind fondant either - as long as it isn't overwhelming.

We don't have Publix around here, but Safeway cakes are the go-to for most people... it's where we get cakes for our staff parties, and they're both reasonably priced and tasty! But if I wanted to spring for a GREAT store-bought cake, Whole Foods and Draeger's (a local "fancy" chain) are worth the extra money. The latter has an Oreo buttercream cake that is to DIE for.

That particular one isn't listed on their site, but here's an example of their work and prices; simple yet delicious: http://www.draegers.com/product.aspx...t_draegers.com
