I have a new kitchen...again and I would love to reorganize it. Share you favorite/best products or ideas for your kitchen organizing. It can be anything from drawer organizers, flatware trays, refrigerator and freezer ideas, spice racks etc. I would love to hear about them and of course show pics if you can.
Thanks.
When I downsized to a 536 sq ft apartment, I needed a lot of storage ideas. I shopped for every piece at IKEA, went to the store to view products, then ordered on line and selected the home delivery option.
I put in an extended over the refrigerator cabinet so that is usable space. I have a divided pull out shelf that I use for cutting boards, and on the other side, I have colanders and other stackable lightweight items so if I get knocked on the head taking something out, not a problem! lol!
Oh, right I forgot, I have those too. I use them to separate different sized bowls and plates so I can fit twice as much in each section of the cabinet. I have Corelle dishes, so they don't take up much room, and I can fit service for 12 on two shelves on one side of an upper cabinet - and that's with a set that has 3 different sized plates and 3 different sized bowls.
I have a very small kitchen and this is what it looks like. The length is 6 ft on each side. When you look at the pic of my stove, you can see the door to enter my room. When you see the cabinet across from the stove, you can see the other side of the door. That's the width of my kitchen. To take a pic of the fridge, I had to open the door and stand out in the hall. The fridge is at a right angle right next to the sink. Yeah, small kitchen.
Anyway, I have as much out on the wall as I can because there's just no storage. The spice shelf was handmade (by me, even).
I don't use the cupboard above the stove. The one above the sink holds all my food. The cabinet next to the chopping block has my dishes and silverware in it. I do hang some pans under the chopping board. And there is now a toaster on the back of the cutting board and two large Mason jars where I keep rice and pasta.
I have a narrow, maybe 2.5 ft. wide, broom closet in my kitchen. I store mops, brooms and the water softener tank on the floor. My galley kitchen is tiny with very limited drawer and cabinet space.
So I installed a section of white wire shelving about 6 ft. off the floor and hang all of my pots, pans and griddle from it with S-hooks.
My cast iron skillet is too heavy to hang this way, but everything else seems to be doing OK.
I second the organizer for cookie sheets and other baking items!
OMG, that drawer with the plates in it - what an awful waste of space! Even if I were disabled and couldn't use a step stool to get to the shelves (which is close to the truth as I am disabled and 5' 2" tall, but can still use a step stool if I am careful and it has a back to hold on to) I would rather a pull out conventional shelf than that drawer.
We have a very small kitchen, so instead of taking up drawer or counter space, my wife put together spice jars with magnetic lids. These are attached to our fridge.
That looks convenient but spices should be kept in a dark place away from light.
