I discovered years ago a soy sauce that I haven't been able to find anywhere for the last several years ... except on some website that will only sell cases of the stuff!
As much as this brand is my favorite, I just don't have a need for 24 16oz bottles!
It's a brand that most folks have never heard of, I'm guessing?
Mee Tu Soy Sauce
(They make a great Duck Sauce too!)
Since I can't find a store, locally that carries Mee Tu, I am open to suggestions.
What are your favorites?
I don't care for Kikkoman and I've heard some good things about Pearl River?
San-J doesn't do much for me either.
I have been using La Choy which is passable and which I guess I will stay unless something better comes along.
"Maggi is a dark, hydrolysed vegetable protein-based seasoning sauce, which is very similar to East Asian soy sauce without actually containing soy. It is used most often in soups and sauces."
You can get it much cheaper in your regular store if you have German or Imported section there. If not try World Market or any place that also sells continental food. Here I get it for ~$4. It's concentrated and last for a while.
Pay attention to the label. It has to be original Maggi, not that awful substitute Made in China called Jugo.
So, do NOT buy this: (well, you might like it, but I think it's awful) https://images.heb.com/is/image/HEBG...-000138322.jpg

I have never heard of that!
(Maggi)
It sounds exactly like something that I will want to try!!
Since it's 3am right now and the stores are closed, I'm going to read all about it and see if I can find a market around here that has it.

Thanks
I like Kikkoman. My local Walmart only had very large bottles once so I bought the Walmart brand, Great Value. It's OK, but it doesn't have the flavor that Kikkoman does.
we get our soy sauce at the Asian market. MY go to favorite sauce is made with a combo of soy sauce and sesame seed oil with a little rice vinegar, hot sauce and something sweet added. Usually I use a bit of fruit jam.
I use San-J Tamari
No wheat soy sauce, reduced sodium
