good plan - the meatballs were cooked already - they are organic chicken and basil from Costco (I love them). Maybe they'll be okay.

Any pathogens that are present can be killed by through cooking. But the taste of the food, yeah, it will not be good and is probably best thrown-out.

I have thoroughly cooked and eaten stinking, rotting chicken with no problems. But it takes getting used to, the texture and taste may be off-putting to most.
