I think most people probably serve it with the meal alongside whatever else.

My exh and I and our friends who we would have over for a bbq just got into that habit of an hours-long food fest. We might have the corn first on paper plates rolled in butter and salted, then the guys would each have a burger, then an hour later we would put a London broil on the grill and have that with side dishes like potato salad and baked beans.

I have to say that for my marriage. We always ate well.

I have the corn dishes and holders. I serve corn with dinner, but I put it on the table first. Most people eat it before the rest of the meal.
