Like previous poster, I haven't had Dinty Moore, in like, um ages. Can't remember the last time so I doubt I would be able to remember exactly how it tasted, however, the way it goes, they [DM] may just have changed their recipe. It could be more/less salty than it was when I first had it. Now that I've cut back on my consumption of salt, I might be likely to say it's too salty, even if DM made it less salty.

It does not taste very salty to me, no more than any home made beef stew..maybe because of the butter i put in it to offsets it

Been years for me. Last I remember was nasty texture, no taste, all salty. Only good thing was kinda cheap and certainly easy.

All the canned soups and stews and pastas are basically dog food these days.

I can't afford the calories by loading a stew with butter. But butter does make things taste good.

I just put a pat in it--not very much, or it will get to be much

I don't eat stuff like that anymore.

It's odd to me how nobody here has mentioned the fact that they no longer have stewing beef in it. It has small lumps of ground beef...kind of like little weird shaped & flattened meatballs.

Very few canned foods ever in my home.

Everything is downsized and cheapened to the point that it's garbage...literally.

By the way, that large can of Dinty Moore beef 'stew' was one of the first things that got downsized. It went from 24 ounces to 20 ounces. They didn't downsize the generous sodium or fat.

Haven't had it in years but I liked to use it as a gravy over mashed potatoes. Simple cheap and very filling meal.

We nicknamed the dish 'bricks'. It would fill you up and stay with you for hours.

I like it from time to time. Depending on how hungry I am I'll either add some frozen mixed vegetables or a handful of cooked egg noodles. Yum!

Ohhh egg noodles sound good. I would make the noodles and use the stew as a 'gravy' over them.

Now I'm getting hungry. LOL!

Oooh, I do like the idea of having it with egg noodles. I've only ever had it with rice.

It's probably good with mashed potatoes, too, but I can't stand instant mashed potatoes...and if I'm making homemade mashed potatoes, then I'll probably actually cook something other than Dinty Moore beef stew lol.
